I have lived in Teignmouth since April 2012 having moved from another seaside resort, Torquay. As a Town Councillor, I want to work with residents, businesses and fellow councillors to enhance our town and to build on the community spirit that we have. In my spare time, I enjoy participating in community events and am Honorary Secretary of the Richard Newton Hall Community Association and a Trustee of the Kingsway Residents Association (The Meadowside Centre). In my professional role, I have been advising and representing parents in the field of Child Care Law for over 16 years. It is important to me to continue working with and supporting families both as a Child Care Law professional but also now as a Town Councillor.

I’ve lived in Teignmouth for 33 years and always tried to keep in touch with what is happening in town. This seems to have become more and moredifficult over the years and one of the things I want to do, as a Councillor, is find better ways to get information flowing to and from the Council and itsparishioners. It’s vital, if we are to represent your views, that you engage with us, your representatives. As a town, we have some tough decisions to take on re: housing, parking, accessibility (technological and transport routes), provision of facilities for young and old, health provision, to name a few. I hope, with my strong academic and workplace background, that I will be able to put my experience and knowledge to good use to help Teignmouth move forward in these changing times.

I'm a single father of two and someone who has always wanted to live by thesea. Originally from Reading, Berkshire I moved to Teignmouth in 2016 but already call it home.
I started my working life as a postie then went into landscape gardening for which I received a nationally recognised award for my work. I completed a Mental Health First Aid course in 2022.
I'm very passionate about Teignmouth and the people in it and although new to this I want to try and do my best for all sections of the community.

I grew up in Teignmouth and went to school here - there is nowhere else I'd want to live. Many of my family are active in the community. I want to give back to the town I love. I will work hard to ensure that Teignmouth is a great place in which to grow up and grow old, where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Above all I will listen to local residents to make sure everyone’s voices are heard, including young people, whose opinions are seldom sought.

Civic pride is important and contributes to a safe and tidy town. I was impressed with the dedication councillors put into our town environment and agreed to stand for the new Rowdens Ward. The local issues I consider important are:- Promoting amodern Teignmouth Health Centre; our Primary Health Care is at risk. Reducing traffic speed and emissions; putting safety first. Giving the community a say on planning; redeveloping derelict sites for homes before taking more bites out of the countryside. Improving the environment; keeping high standards for our beaches and supporting the Teign Estuary Trail which will benefit health and wellbeing, attract visitors and boost local jobs and businesses. Teignmouth is a lovely place to live but that is always a work in progress for the council with your support.

There is a wonderful community spirit here in Teignmouth with many caring and creative individuals who make living here so special. Everyone plays a role in making our town great, from volunteers, community groups and charities to enthusiastic individuals. The challenge is to continue to improve, and I would like to play a part in ensuring that partnerships between the Council and the community are reinforced.Becoming Mayor in 2015 made me extremely proud and the opportunity to act as an ambassador for a lively and dynamic town and its inhabitants was a wonderful experience. I will continue to fly the flag for this creative and unique place, and work hard to instigate a variety of community projects.
