Picture this - our beaches crowded with children and adults of all ages and all abilities, local people and tourists bringing money to our town’s businesses and stimulating new ventures. That’s my dream for the place I now call home after moving here in 2014. I work in medical research and am passionate about the NHS. I also worry about isolation within our community and am keen to support initiatives that promote togetherness and improving quality of life.

There is a wonderful community spirit here in Teignmouth with many caring and creative individuals who make living here so special. Everyone plays a role in making our town great, from volunteers, community groups and charities to enthusiastic individuals.
The challenge is to continue to improve, and I would like to play a part in ensuring that partnerships between the Council and the community are reinforced.
Becoming Mayor in 2015 made me extremely proud and the opportunity to act as an ambassador for a lively and dynamic town and its inhabitants was a wonderful experience. I will continue to fly the flag for this creative and unique place, and work hard to instigate a variety of community projects.

On 22nd September 2016, I was elected to serve on Teignmouth Town Council, along with my father Roy Gordon Phillips. I previously served a four year term as a Town Councillor a number of years ago. My family moved to Teignmouth in 1968 and I have lived here for most of the years since then. For the past 25 years I have worked for Devon County Council Children's Services as a Safeguarding Conference Officer. Teignmouth is a lovely town with a beautiful seafront and promenade that is a joy to both locals and visitors alike. My primary interest and concern is in the quality of life of all of Teignmouth's residents.

As promised in my September 2016 election leaflet, I will do all within my limited power to ensure that residents' concerns and voices are heard at town, district and county council level. I will, as I always have, work to resolve your problems. My primary interest and concern is, and always has been, the quality of life for all of us in these increasingly difficult times. I believe it beholds each and every one of us to remember those basic tenets our parents and grandparents taught us, so that compassion, caring and concern for others is the norm and not an increasing rarity.
