Picture this - our beaches crowded with children and adults of all ages and all abilities, local people and tourists bringing money to our town’s businesses and stimulating new ventures. That’s my dream for the place I now call home after moving here in 2014. I work in medical research and am passionate about the NHS. I also worry about isolation within our community and am keen to support initiatives that promote togetherness and improving quality of life.

I’ve lived in Teignmouth for 33 years and always tried to keep in touch with what is happening in town.  This seems to have become more and more
difficult over the years and one of the things I want to do, as a Councillor, is find better ways to get information flowing to and from the Council and its
parishioners. It’s vital, if we are to represent your views, that you engage with us, your representatives.  As a town, we have some tough decisions to take on re: housing, parking, accessibility (technological and transport routes), provision of facilities for young and old, health provision, to name a few.
I hope, with my strong academic and workplace background, that I will be able to put my experience and knowledge to good use to help Teignmouth move forward in these changing times.

I'm a single father of two and someone who has always wanted to live by the
sea. Originally from Reading, Berkshire I moved to Teignmouth in 2016 but already call it home.

I started my working life as a postie then went into landscape gardening for which I received a nationally recognised award for my work

I'm very passionate about Teignmouth and the people in it and although new to this I want to try and do my best for all sections of the community

All the brilliant initiatives and events taking place in the area are exciting to get involved in and I feel fortunate to live in a place that to me, is healing for the soul. Whether that be a 5 minute litter pick, a community clean or volunteering at the Park run, just a few of the things that have been supported and established through the help of local Councillors.

As a new Cllr, inspired by the commitment of others, I am looking forward to working together to make improvements to our local area, and, hopefully encourage more people to embrace everything Teignmouth has to offer!

I have been married for 45 years, 2 sons both married, and 2 grandsons. I am a local businessman in Teignmouth working with my wife and son for the past 20 years running our seafront cafe.

I have always taken a keen interest in the Town Council and have attended council meetings as a member of the public for many years.

Some of you may have also seen me leading the pipe band around Teignmouth at the Teignmouth Folk festival of which I am chief fundraiser and committee member.

My main hobby throughout my life has been a member of surf life saving GB. I am also president of Teignmouth beach life saving club.

Civic pride is important and contributes to a safe and tidy town. I was impressed with the dedication councillors put into our town environment and agreed to stand for the new Rowdens Ward. The local issues I consider important are: Promoting a modern Teignmouth Health Centre. Our Primary Health Care is at risk. Reducing traffic speed and emissions; putting safety first. Giving the community a say on planning. Redeveloping derelict sites for homes before taking more bites out of the countryside. Improving the environment. Keeping high standards for our beaches and supporting the Teign Estuary Trail which will benefit health and wellbeing, attract visitors and boost local jobs and businesses.

Teignmouth is a lovely place to live but that is always a work in progress for the council with your support.

There is a wonderful community spirit here in Teignmouth with many caring and creative individuals who make living here so special. Everyone plays a role in making our town great, from volunteers, community groups and charities to enthusiastic individuals.
The challenge is to continue to improve, and I would like to play a part in ensuring that partnerships between the Council and the community are reinforced.
Becoming Mayor in 2015 made me extremely proud and the opportunity to act as an ambassador for a lively and dynamic town and its inhabitants was a wonderful experience. I will continue to fly the flag for this creative and unique place, and work hard to instigate a variety of community projects.
