Councillors have decided to postpone the Annual Council and Annual Parish meetings. The proposed postponement was raised at the first virtual Full Council meeting on Tuesday (19 May 2020). The Annual Council meeting usually held in May is when the Mayor for the next municipal year is elected and is typically the time when they can formally express thanks to those who they have met and who have supported them. It was deemed best for business continuity and stability during the Covid-19 pandemic for the current Mayor, Cllr Robert Phipps to continue as Mayor for a further six months.
The Annual Parish meeting is the meeting for the Parishioners of Teignmouth and it will take place in December this year when hopefully we can have a more community engaged meeting than what could be held now.
But of course this does not mean that Parishioners have to wait until December to participate in meetings. Members of the Parish are welcome to contact the Town Clerk to request to speak on any matter they wish to at meetings. The next virtual Full Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, 23 June 2020 at 6pm, followed by Tuesday, 21 July 2020.
