Teignbridge District Council has been successful in a grant funding bid to the Public Sector Decarbonisaton Scheme which will enable them to reduce energy costs and carbon emissions by installing new, green technology at Teignmouth Lido. Under the terms of the grant funding, the deadline for completing this work is September which means it will need to be carried out over the summer. As a result they will not be able to open The Lido this year

Over the next six months the £2.3 million grant will be spent installing Solar PV, battery storage and building management system upgrades as part of their emerging Carbon Action Plan. Gas boilers at the Lido will be replaced with low-carbon air source heat pumps and pool circulation pumps will be replaced with high-efficiency modern equivalents.
