Teignmouth Town Council has now refurbished all the benches which were originally funded by The Teignmouth Trafalgar 200 Project. These benches highlight the maritime history of the town and local individuals who were involved with the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.

Wander through Teignmouth, looking carefully, and you will see signs of Trafalgar everywhere.  On the wall at the Ship Inn, there is a plaque that commemorates fourteen Teignmouth men who took part in the Battle of Trafalgar.

The names of these fourteen men can be found on benches throughout the town. These benches were originally provided to mark the 200th anniversary of the Battle and the locations of the benches can be seen on this map of Trafalgar Bench Locations by Postcode

Teignmouth Mayor, Councillor Joan Atkins, can be seen below behind one of the newly refurbished benches.
